<br />DES:djml 1/19/90 (042/27) <br />O. i,~ ~ lA ~ r',~ ~~\L <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />11274 <br /> <br />APR 2 3 1990 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF JOINT <br />POWERS AGREEMENT CREATING THE BAY CITIES JOINT POWERS <br />INSURANCE AUTHORITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Government Code Sections 989 and 990 permit a local <br /> <br />public entity to insure itself against liability and other <br /> <br />losses; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Government Code Section 990.4 permits a local <br /> <br />public entity to provide insurance and self-insurance in any <br /> <br />desired combination; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Government Code Section 990.8 permits two or more <br /> <br />local public entities to enter into an agreement jointly to fund <br /> <br />such insurance expenditures pursuant to Government Code Sections <br /> <br />6500 et. seq.; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, certain local public agencies have heretofore <br /> <br />established, pursuant to Government Code Sections 6500 et. seq., <br /> <br />the Bay Cities Joint Powers Insurance Authority; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this City desires to join said Authority as a <br /> <br />member agencys to participate in the general liability insurance <br /> <br />program established by said Authority. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />That certain agreement by and among certain local public <br /> <br />agencies therein specified, entitled "Joint Powers Agreement <br /> <br />Creating the Bay Cities Joint Powers Insurance Authority", <br /> <br />adopted August 13, 1986, as amended March 15, 1988, a copy of <br /> <br />which agreement is on file in the office of the City Clerk, to <br /> <br />which copy reference is hereby made for the full particulars <br />
