09/10/2018 RESOLUTION NO. 15702 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY EXPANDING THE RESIDENTIAL PERMIT PARKING AREA "S" TO ARCH STREET AND LEXINGTON AVENUE IN THE MT. CARMEL NEIGHBORHOOD; AND AUTHORIZING THE ERECTION OF APPROPRIATE SIGNS AND THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS FOR SAID AREA WHEREAS, The City of Redwood City in 1985 adopted the Residential Parking Permit Program codified in the City's Municipal Code in Chapter 20, Article 7, Division 11 to discourage long-term parking by people who do not live in the residential neighborhood; and WHEREAS, the City received a petition requesting the expansion of the residential parking permit area "S" in the Mt. Carmel neighborhood; and WHEREAS, the City collected parking occupancy data which demonstrated that parking was being negatively impacted by the adjacent high school, commute parkers, and excessive internal neighborhood vehicles; and WHEREAS, the City surveyed residents and property owners within the area, with 50% responding and 93% supporting the expansion of the existing residential parking permit area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 20, Article 7, Division 11 of the Municipal Code of the City of Redwood City, the City hereby expands Residential Permit Parking Area "S" to parts of certain streets in the Mt. Carmel Neighborhood as indicated in Section 2 and as illustrated in Exhibit "A". Section 2. The following streets and public right-of-ways or portions thereof, and the applicable time schedules (during which times it is unlawful for any person to park a vehicle for more than a consecutive period of two hours without a valid residential parking permit or temporary or guest permit) are hereby designated: Arch Street. Both sides, from James Avenue to Lexington Avenue - Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., holidays excluded.
