ORIGINAL _ <br />RESOLUTION NO. 13074 <br />RESOLUTION URGING EXPEDITED IMPLEMENTATION OF <br />ASSEMBLY BILL 1149 RELATING TO RULES GOVERNING <br />REPLACEMENT OF OVERHEAD ELECTRIC AND <br />COMMUNICATION FACILITIES <br />WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 1149 ( "AB 1149" [Aroner]), enacted as Chapter <br />844, Statutes of 2000, recognizes the need to amend, revise, and improve rules <br />for the replacement of overhead electric and communications facilities with <br />underground facilities; and <br />WHEREAS, the California Public Utilities Commission ( "CPUC ") has <br />commenced proceedings to implement AB 1149 (Rulemaking 00 -01 -005), to <br />consider comments of interested parties and make recommendations for <br />improving CPUC's utility undergrounding program; and <br />WHEREAS, the Association of Bay Area Governments ( "ABAG "), <br />representing ninety -nine (99) cities and nine (9) counties, on behalf of its <br />members has urged the CPUC to expedite the undergrounding program in <br />furtherance of the public health, safety, and welfare and has requested its <br />members to do likewise; <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />4/10/00 <br />Reso -859 1 <br />FAshared4edwood %council <br />DES:rg <br />04/05/00 <br />
