CGM:lt:8/5/71 ORIGINAL AU; 16 '71 o R DIN A NeE N o. /S-o.:L ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 29.69 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, RELATING TO THE PLANTING OF CERTAIN TREES THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 29.69 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 29.69. Some types of trees, upon maturing, instead of becoming assets to the community, become liabilities due to structural weaknesses, disease or insect susceptibility, short life, destructive root systems and rank growing branches requiring excessive maintenance. Due to one or more of these characteristics, it shall be unlawful to plant the following trees in or where they may ov~rhang any public street: Botanical name Common name All species of acacia Juglans Cupressus arizonica Celtis auctralis Ulmus parvifolia All species of locust All species of poplar Grevillea robusta All species of sycamore Salix All species of fruit trees A ca c ia Black walnut Arizona cypress Asiatic hackberry Chinese elm Locust Poplar silk oak Sycamore or european plane willow Fruit trees "The Park Superintendent may grant permission to plant the following trees in or where they may overhang any public street if he determines that the soils conditions where such trees are proposed to be planted are not supportive of trees not having the above-mentioned detrimental characteristics: Botanical name Common Name Casuarina stricta All species of palm Schinus Beefwood or she oak Palm Pepper " SECTION 2~ This ordinance shall be effective 30 days after its adoption. * * * r
