'11.1'" <br /> <br />\) ~\ \v. \~ tr.\.. <br /> <br />ORD1.NANCE <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />I~I/r <br /> <br />/ <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTIONS 14.42, 14.43 AND 14.47 <br />OF, AND ADDING SECTION 14.42 AND 14.43 TO, ARTICLE 14 <br />OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REm-lOOD CITY, RELA'l'ING TO <br />THE ABATEMENT OF ~'lEEDS <br /> <br />. <br />TIm COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Sections 14.42, 14.43 and 14.47 of the Code <br />of the city of Redwood City are hereby repealed. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Section 14.42 is hereby added to said Code to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 14.42. At the time and place stated in the <br />notice, the Council shall hear and consider any and all <br />objections of the proposed abatement of the nuisance. <br />Upon the conclusion of the hearing, the Council shall <br />allow, or overrule any or all objections, after which the <br />Council shall be deemed to have acquired jurisdiction to <br />perform the work of abating the nuisance by the destruction <br />or removal of the weeds, dirt, 'rubbish and/or rank grm.,ths. <br />The decision of the Council shall be final and conclusive. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. Section' 14.43 is hereby added to said Code to <br />read as follm'ls: <br /> <br />Section 14.43. In addition to the notification by <br />publication as herein provided, before the performance of <br />weed abatement work on any parcel of real property, notice <br />to the owners shall be given by the Street Superintendant <br />as hereafter provided. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Such notice shall be given in writing and shall be <br />mailed or delivered personally to each person to whom <br />such property is assessed on the, last available equalized <br />assessment roll. The notices shall be deposited in the <br />,United States mail or delivered at least 15 days prior <br />to the time the weed abatement work is performed by the <br />City. The failure of any person to receive any notice <br />deposited in the mail shall not invalidate any of the pro- <br />ceedings under this article. <br /> <br />The form of the notice shall be prescribed by the Street <br />Superintend~nt and shall contain sufficient information <br />to permit the o~mer to identify the location of the parcel. <br />If the notice is given prior to the date of the hearing <br />held under Section 14.42, the notice shall give the date <br />of the hearing, otherwise it shall be sufficient to <br />refer to the determination of the Council made at the con- <br />clusion of said hearing. <br /> <br />SECTION 4.
