<br />SWC:mmq 8/2/88 (#22/011) <br />AUG 8 1988 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />10843 <br /> <br />ORiGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO NEGOTIATE WITH STATE OF <br />CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR AUTHORITY <br />TO OPERATE AND MAINTAIN TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEMS ON EL <br />CAMINO REAL AND WOODSIDE ROAD IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Traffic Committee has recommened to this <br /> <br />Council that this Council consider the possibility of taking over <br /> <br />operation and maintenance of traffic signal systems on El Camino <br /> <br />Real (State Route 92) and Woodside Road (State Route 84) within <br /> <br />the City of Redwood City, which functions are now being done by <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />State <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />California <br /> <br />Department <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />Transportation <br /> <br />("Caltrans"); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council has reviewed a cost/benefit analysis <br /> <br />to determine the economic feasibility of such recommendation, and <br /> <br />has considered the experiences of other cities that have taken <br /> <br />over the operation and maintenance of traffic signal systems on <br /> <br />state highways within their respective municipal boundaries; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the intention of this Council to pursue <br /> <br />negotiations with Caltrans for the purpose of taking over the <br /> <br />operation and maintenance of the traffic signal systems on El <br /> <br />Camino Real and Woodside Road in the City of Redwood City, the <br /> <br />cost of such operation and maintenance to be shared by the City <br /> <br />and Caltrans; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. This Council does hereby state its interest and <br /> <br />intention to commence negotiations with Caltrans for the purpose <br /> <br />of taking over the operation and maintenance of the traffic <br /> <br />1 0 843 <br />
