Devi ncen zi is ret i ri ng as pres i dent of B rowni ng-F err is <br />Industries of San Mateo County after almost 52 years of 81lplo}1Tlent with <br />the company; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Lou Devincenzi began his more than half-century service as a <br />young accountant, joining the former San Mateo Garbage Company on July <br />1,1935 and advancing to his present position with BFI; and <br /> <br />WHE REAS, duri ng t he years, Lou Devi ncenzi has been associ ated wi th <br />planning and operations for collection and disposal of solid waste in <br />San Mateo County, he has seen enonnous expansion and change, from the <br />original finn with ten people serving one city to the 1942 San Mateo <br />County Scavenger Company employing 70 workers and, finally, since 1973, <br />to BF! with 320 employees serving 13 cities and jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, throughout his long career, Lou Devincenzi has made exceptional <br />contri buti ons to the waste servi ce industry as evi denced by hi s bei ng a <br />recipient of the prestigous Distinguished Service Award of the National <br />Sol id Waste Management Associ ati 00; and <br /> <br />WHE REAS, Lou Devi ncen zi has held key pas iti ons on sever al ci vi c boards <br />and advisory commissions and has also served the Mid Peninsula community <br />as a m81lber of the Rotary Club and the Elks Club; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Lou Devincenzi has worked with most elected and appointed <br />officials in San Mateo County as well as with many at the state and <br />federal level, all of whom have greatly valued his advice, cooperation <br />and good humor; <br /> <br />NOW, THE RE FffiE ; <br />BE IT RESa..VED BY THE COUNCIL OF TI-E CITY OF REm..oOD CITY, AS Fa..LOWS: <br /> <br />Thi s Counci 1 does hereby commend Loui s J.
