<br />f\'\S:djc 5/8/86 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />10206 <br /> <br />GDlrIMA' <br />, l\/UII'~' '- <br /> <br />MAY 1 2 1986 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ENDORSING PROPOSITION 47 ON THE STATEWIDE JUNE <br />1986 BALLOT TO GUARANTEE A SHARE OF THE VEHICLE LICENSE <br />FEE FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Proposition 47 will be on the statewide June 1986 <br /> <br />ballot and will, if approved, amend the California Constitution <br /> <br />by guaranteeing a certain share of the Vehicle License Fee for <br /> <br />local governments; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during the 3 year period between 1981 and 1984 the <br /> <br />amount of Vehicle License Fees for local governments have been <br /> <br />substantially reduced; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Proposition 47 will assure a stable source of <br /> <br />state-shared revenue for local governments from the Vehicle <br /> <br />License Fee which has provided revenue for local government for <br /> <br />over 50 years in California, and was initially administered by <br /> <br />local governments as a property tax; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Proposition 47 is supported by the League of <br /> <br />California <br /> <br />Cities, <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />County <br /> <br />Supervisors <br /> <br />Association <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />California, California Taxpayers' Association, County Sheriff's <br /> <br />Association as well as other cities and counties; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, no formal arguments and opposition have been filed <br /> <br />with the Secretary of State; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1.
