<br />SvlC:sh 4/4/85 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br />MAY 20 ISBS <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />9884 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CHIEF OF POLICE TO ESTABLISH <br />GUIDELINES FOR THE FURNISHING OF TOW CAR SERVICES TO <br />THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Vehicle Code Section 21100, local <br /> <br />authorities may regulate the operation of tow car services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City requires the services of <br /> <br />private tow car companies to aid the Police Department in various <br /> <br />law enforcement activities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, certain tow car services required by the City, <br /> <br />namely the towing of abandoned vehicles, are less commercially <br /> <br />desirable to tow car companies than other more lucrative services <br /> <br />required by the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the intent of this Council to establish a <br /> <br />rotation list of all tow car companies who wish to perform tow <br /> <br />car services for the City, and to require that all tow car <br /> <br />companies participat~ng in said rotation must respond to requests <br /> <br />for less desirable services on the same basis as to requests for <br /> <br />more desirable services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is further the intent of this Council that the <br /> <br />City use competent, responsible tow car companies and operators <br /> <br />to provide such services for the City of Redwood City; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />9ts84 <br />
