H-8 6 5 <br /> <br />OHlGJ NAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ENDORSING SUNDAY, APRIL 28, 1985 <br />REDWOOD CITY IIWALK AMER ICAII FOR THE MARCH OF DIMES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to support the Sunday <br />April 28, 1985 Redwood City 32 kilometer wa lk as part of the <br />nationa 1 IIWa lk America" program sponsored by the March of Dimes; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City is one of approximately 1100 cities <br />throughout the United States supporting such walks; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City cit izens have supported the Wa lkathon <br />in the past by raising more than one mi llion dollars locally <br />since the program was started by Ms. Priscilla Mosher in 1974; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City cit izens have demonstrated their <br />interest in "Wa lk America" by becoming contributing sponsors, <br />through their p ledges of 25 cents or more per kilometer per <br />participant or by signing up as participants; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COONCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />This Council does hereby commend, and lends its support to <br />the efforts of participants and sponsors, and does hereby <br />endorse the Sunday, April 28, 1985 Redwood City "Walk America" <br />for the March of Di meso <br /> <br />9865 <br />
