11/04/02 <br />O R I G I N A L <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1 L.67R <br />RESOLUTION FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT, BECAUSE OF <br />LOCAL CLIMATIC, GEOGRAPHICAL AND TOPOGRAPHICAL <br />CONDITIONS, THE PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY, WELFARE, AND <br />NECESSITY, REQUIRE CHANGES OR MODIFICATION TO CERTAIN <br />PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE REDWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL <br />CODE RELATING TO THE ADOPTION BY REFERENCE OF "THE <br />UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 2000 EDITION "; AS MODIFIED AND MADE <br />APPLICABLE TO THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 50022.1, et seq., of the <br />Government Code, and Section 15 of the Charter of the City of Redwood City, this <br />Council proposes to adopt by reference the Uniform Fire Code, 2000 Edition, <br />(hereinafter referred to as the "Fire Code "); and <br />WHEREAS, in connection therewith, certain changes or modifications are <br />proposed to be made to the substantive provisions of the Codes, which changes or <br />modifications are reasonably necessary due to local climatic, geographic and <br />topographic conditions (the "Local Amendments "); and <br />WHEREAS, the Local Amendments, which are proposed to be made clarify the <br />Fire Code and in certain instances, impose more stringent protection requirements than <br />are required by the Fire Code; and <br />WHEREAS, The Local Amendments have been recognized by the City to <br />address the fire problems, concerns, and future direction by which the City can <br />establish and maintain an environment which will afford a level of fire and life safety to <br />all who live and work within its boundaries; and <br />F:Atty /Reso /Reso.1333 1 <br />102802 <br />
