O R I G I N A L <br />RESOLUTION NO. 13199 <br />RESOLUTION DECLARING PARTICIPANTS REGISTERED IN <br />THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY AS EMPLOYEES FOR PURPOSES OF THE WORKERS' <br />COMPENSATION LAW OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City has instituted a program of <br />voluntary service without pay for the various departments and activities of the <br />City; and <br />WHEREAS, unless otherwise provided by the adoption of a resolution of <br />the governing body of a public agency, persons providing volunteer services to <br />that public agency are not deemed to be employees thereof for purposes of the <br />Workers' Compensation Law of the State of California (Lab. Code § 3200, et <br />seq.); and <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires to provide coverage under the Workers' <br />Compensation Law for its volunteers; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Pursuant to the provisions of Labor Code Section 3363.5, this Council <br />hereby declares that persons duly registered in the City's Volunteer Program <br />shall be deemed employees of the City for purposes of the Workers' <br />Compensation Law (Lab. Code.
