0 R I G I N A L 8/25/97 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 13182 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING JOINT <br /> EXERCISE OF POWERS AGREEMENT ESTABLISHING THE <br /> SAN MATEO PRE-HOSPITAL EMERGENCY SERVICES GROUP <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo <br /> proposes to enter into a contract for pre-hospital emergency services <br /> (ambulance) transport throughout the County; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City intends to provide first response <br />medical and other emerqency service by its fire department in order to improve <br />the quality and level of emergency medical services within the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such first response services aro necessary for the efficient <br />functioning of an integrated system of pre-hospital emergency medical services; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, other cities and fire districts within the County of San Mateo <br />provide similar first response medical/emergency services and share this City's <br />interest in improving the quality of care in the delivery of pro-hospital emergency <br />medical services while also achieving economic savings; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a proposed joint exercise of powers agreement has been <br />presented to and reviewed by this Council which establishes the San Mateo Pre- <br />Hospital Emergency Services Providers Group (the "Group"); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Group provides a means by which cities and fire districts <br />with similar interests could collaborate and cooperate in obtaining economies <br /> <br />F:~shared\Redwood\Council\ 1 <br />Reso-266 <br />DES:rg <br />08/11/97 <br /> <br /> <br />
