ovzaizo>> <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15080 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD � <br /> CITY AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A GRANT <br /> AGREEMENT WITH THE ASSOCIATION OF BAY AREA <br /> GOVERNMENTS (ABAG) TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BAY AREA-WIDE <br /> TRASH CAPTURE DEMONSTRATION PROJECT <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City is mandated under Federal and State law to <br /> maintain a National Pollutant Discharge elimination system permit for its stormwater <br /> system; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City's permit to discharge stormwater, "National Pollutant <br /> Discharge Elimination System Permit No. CAS612008, Municipal Regional Stormwater <br /> PermiY' (MRP) contains a provision, Provision C.10. Trash Load Reduction which <br /> requires the City to perform specific activities such as installing, constructing and <br /> maintaining full trash capture devices in the storm drain system; and <br /> WHEREAS, MRP Provision C. 10. Trash Load Reduction requires municipalities <br /> to implement trash control measures and other actions "to reduce trash loads from <br /> municipal separate storm sewer systems (MS4s) 40% by 2014, 70% by 2017, and <br /> 100% by 2022; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) working through <br /> the San Francisco Estuary Partnership and with the San Francisco Bay Regional Water <br /> Quality Control Board has been awarded a$5,000,000 grant from the American <br /> Recovery and Reinvestment Act to implement a Bay Area-Wide Trash Capture <br /> Demonstration Project (hereafter referred to as "ProjecY'); and <br /> WHEREAS, based on population and area, the city of Redwood City is eligible to <br /> receive an allocation of approximately $66,009 in Project funds, and potentially <br /> additional funds. <br /> , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of <br /> Redwood as follows: <br /> 1. The City of Redwood City will participate in the ABAG Project and hereby <br /> approves the Agreement for Local Agency Participation In Grant-Funded Bay Area- <br /> Wide Trash Capture Demonstration Project, accepting all grant funding allocated to the <br /> City by ABAG. Pursuant to paragraph 2(b) of the Agreement, additional funds may be <br /> allocated to the City by ABAG at its sole discretion.
