06/18/2012 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15198 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE <br /> AND EXECUTE A SECOND AMENDMENT TO THAT CERTAIN <br /> AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND THE <br /> CITY OF SAN CARLOS FOR FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES <br /> WHEREAS, on July 7, 2011, the City of Redwood City ("Redwood City") entered <br /> into that certain Agreement between #he City of Redwood City and the City of San <br /> Carlos ("San Carlos") for Fire and Emergency Services ("Agreement"); and <br /> WHEREAS, the Agreement was modified by that certain First Amendment to <br /> Agreement between Redwood City and San Carlos for Fire and Emergency Services <br /> dated October 19, 2011 ("First AmendmenY') to revise Sections 2 and 5; and <br /> WHEREAS, at the time Redwood City and San Carlos entered into the Agreement, it <br /> was agreed that San Carlos would maintain and staff its Fire Department while <br /> Redwood City would provide only management and administrative support; and <br /> WHEREAS, since San Carlos began to operate its own Fire Department it has <br /> required the use of Redwood City personnel to maintain adequate staffing in order to <br /> provide fire protection activities, emergency medical services, and other related <br /> activities; and <br /> WHEREAS, it has become apparent to Redwood City and San Carlos that San <br /> Carlos has a continuing need for additional support from Redwood City personnel to <br /> staff San Carlos Fire Department; and <br /> WHEREAS, Redwood City and San Carlos seek to modify the Agreement to provide <br /> for Redwood City personnel to staff the San Carlos Fire Department pursuant to a <br /> Second Amendment which would be effective as of January 1, 2012; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Second Amendment is currently being negotiated and not yet in <br /> final form; and <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 1. The City Council authorizes the City Manager to negotiate and execute a <br /> Second Amendment to the Agreement for Fire Services to provide for Redwood City <br /> personnel to staff the San Carlos Fire Department, subject to the City Attorney's <br /> approval. <br /> * * * <br /> ATTY/RES0.2242/AUTHORIZE CM.
