09/10/2012 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15216 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> ESTABLISHING CONTRACT ATTORNEY POSITION IN THE <br /> DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY ATTORNEY TO BE APPOINTED AS <br /> NEEDED ON TEMPORARY BASIS AND FOR A LIMITED DURATION <br /> AND ADOPTING A PAY SCHEDULE <br /> WHEREAS, due to changes in personnel, reorganization of the work <br /> assignments, an increased work load and other factors, in the Department of the City <br /> Attorney, it is necessary and in the best interest of the City from time to time for the City <br /> to approve appointment of a contract attorney to perForm work in-house in order to <br /> prevent stoppage of public business or because an attorney with specialized skills is <br /> needed to perform work of a limited duration working in the Department of the City <br /> Attorney; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Attorney may make such appointments when the City <br /> Attorney has sufficient funds in the City Attorney budget and the appointment shall be <br /> made on a temporary basis and for a limited duration; and <br /> WHEREAS, the hourly rate of pay for an in-house contract att is generally <br /> established by reference to existing positions and salary schedules. For attorneys with <br /> at least two years of experience, the City uses the hourly rate of pay of the Deputy City <br /> Attorney classification, and for attorneys with at least five years of relevant experience, <br /> the City uses the Assistant City Attorney classification; and <br /> WHEREAS, there is no established rate of pay for more experienced attorneys <br /> serving in an assistant capacity and who would likely be matched to the Senior <br /> Assistant City Attorney classification established in the City's Municipal Code at section <br /> ATTY/RES0.2278lCONTRACT ATTORNEY PAY RATE RESO.#15216 <br /> REV:08-28-12 PT MUFF#901 <br />
