06/12/2017 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15592 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, REQUESTING AND AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY <br />CONTROLLER TO LEVY THE BENEFIT ASSESSMENTS FOR FY 2017- <br />2018 FOR THE SEAPORT CENTRE MAINTENANCE DISTRICT AND <br />AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR TO COLLECT SUCH <br />ASSESSMENTS <br />WHEREAS, on August 24, 2015, voters of the Seaport Centre Maintenance <br />District (the "District") approved, by a vote of 100% yes to 0% no, the levy of a special <br />tax, as specified in the City Manager's and City Engineer's Reports, heretofore <br />approved by Resolution No. 15416 adopted June 08, 2015 on each non-exempt parcel <br />of land in the district; and <br />WHEREAS, on August 24, 2015, the City Council authorized the levying and <br />collection of the benefit assessments by Resolution No. 15440; and <br />WHEREAS, on July 25, 2016, the City Council again authorized the levying and <br />collection of the benefit assessments by Resolution No. 15510; and <br />WHEREAS, the maximum annual benefit assessment for fiscal year 2017-2018 <br />is $187,000.00; and <br />WHEREAS, the District has the need of the services of the offices of the San <br />Mateo County Controller and Tax Collector in levying and collecting the special tax. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY, CALIFORNIA AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The above recitals are all true and correct. <br />2. The amount of the assessment to be levied against the District for fiscal <br />year 2017-2018 is hereby set at $187,000. <br />3. The City Council of the City of Redwood City hereby respectfully requests <br />and authorizes the San Mateo County Tax Controller to include individual tax <br />assessments in the County tax bills in accordance with the documents supplied by <br />the District and authorizes the San Mateo County Tax Collector to collect the taxes at <br />the same time and in the same manner as the general County taxes are collected. <br />4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution <br />and enter it into the book of original resolutions. <br />5.
