' 2/14/00 <br />O R I G I N A L ' <br />RESOLUTION NO. 13332 <br />RESOLUTION ENDORSING PASSAGE OF PROPOSITION 12, SAFE <br />NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS, CLEAN WATER, CLEAN WATER, AND COASTAL <br />PROTECTION BOND ACT OF 2000 <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redwood City recognizes that state, regional <br />and local parks serve as recreational, social and cultural centers for California's communities, <br />providing important venues for youth enrichment and safety; community identity, protection <br />of natural and historic sites, parkland and open space; and <br />WHEREAS, California is known for its natural resources of open space, parks, <br />mountains, rivers, coastline and forest that positively impact the state and local economy; and <br />the economy is enhanced by the high quality of life that includes attractive and safe public <br />park and recreation facilities and services; and, <br />WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 18, Chapter 461, Statutes of 1999, is Proposition 12 on the <br />March 2000 ballot to authorize up to $2.1 billion in State General Obligation Bonds to fund <br />state and local park projects; and <br />WHEREAS, Proposition 12 can support improvements to City parks and recreational <br />facilities enhancing the environment and quality of life for Redwood City residents; <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />The City Council of the City of Redwood City endorses and supports the passage of <br />Proposition 12, and encourages California voters to approve the bond act in March 2000. <br />Reso-823 1 <br />
