'7C7Le3fk1_l� <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14526 <br />04/28/03 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DECLARING <br />REDWOOD CITY'S APPRECIATION TO THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE <br />UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES SERVING THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, <br />PROCLAIMING IN THEIR HONOR THE MONTH OF MAY, 2003 AS "YELLOW <br />RIBBON MONTH," DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO PLACE YELLOW <br />RIBBONS ON CITY PROPERTY IN THE CENTRAL BUSINESS RETAIL <br />DISTRICT OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY FOR THE DURATION OF <br />"YELLOW RIBBON MONTH," AND ENCOURAGING THE RESIDENTS AND <br />BUSINESSES IN REDWOOD CITY TO SUPPORT OUR ARMED FORCES <br />WHEREAS, men and women from Redwood City are serving around the world in the <br />United States Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy; and <br />WHEREAS, the services these men and women in the armed forces are performing are <br />vital to the freedom enjoyed by the citizens of Redwood City and the rest of the United States of <br />America; and <br />WHEREAS, the services of these men and women in the armed forces further the <br />principles of democracy and liberty respected by the citizens of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City wishes to recognize that these men and women in <br />the armed forces are performing their duties at great sacrifice to themselves, their families, and <br />their community; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Redwood City to demonstrate and convey to <br />these men of women in the armed forces the appreciation, pride, and thanks of the people of <br />Redwood City for their sacrifice and dedication in protecting our freedom as they carry out their <br />duties around the world. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY THAT, <br />The City Council hereby expresses its appreciation to those men and women from <br />Redwood City who are serving around the world in the United States armed forces. <br />2. The City Council hereby proclaims the month of May, 2003 as "Yellow Ribbon <br />Month." <br />3. The City Manager is directed to install, erect, display or otherwise place yellow <br />ribbons upon City property in the Central Business Retail District of the City of <br />Redwood City during the course of said "Yellow Ribbon Month" in honor of those <br />men and women from Redwood City who are serving in the United States armed <br />forces. <br />The City Council further encourages all who live and work in Redwood City to <br />support our armed forces and, upon the return of members of the United States <br />armed forces from their duty throughout the world, to welcome them with thanks, <br />appreciation, and the highest regard for their service to our country. <br />F:Atty /Reso /Reso.1390 <br />042303 <br />
