10/11/2004 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14610 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY IN SUPPORT OF H.R. 4585 - FULL SERVICE COMMUNITY <br />SCHOOLS ACT OF 2004 <br />WHEREAS, Congressman Steny Hoyer has introduced H.R. 4585, which would <br />authorize funding for full - service community schools, which are public elementary or <br />secondary schools that coordinate multiple federal, state and /or local educational and <br />social service programs through community -based organizations and public/private <br />partnership; and <br />WHEREAS, the use of full - service community schools best utilizes resources, <br />which results in more cost - efficient services; and <br />WHEREAS, San Mateo County's Family Resource Centers provide a variety of <br />prevention and early intervention social services through partnerships between schools <br />and nonprofits throughout the County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Family Resource Centers could benefit from the full - service <br />community school funding; and <br />WHEREAS, support of H.R. 4585 would further the County's Vision 2010 <br />commitment to ensure basic health and safety for all and would support Goals Nos. 5, 6 <br />and 8 that residents, including children have access to healthcare and safe <br />neighborhoods and that vulnerable people achieve a better quality of life. <br />Atty /Reso /Reso.1496 <br />100604 <br />14610 <br />Muff # 213 <br />1 <br />
