06/27/2005 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14653 <br />RESOLUTION CALLING GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND <br />ORDERING SAID GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE <br />CONSOLIDATED WITH THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ON NOVEMBER 8, 2005 <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 4 of the Charter of the City of <br />Redwood City and Ordinance No. 2078, adopted April 11, 1994, General Municipal <br />Elections of the City of Redwood City shall be held in said City on the first Tuesday after <br />the first Monday in November of each odd- numbered year; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 9 of the Charter of the City of <br />Redwood City, the City Council has called for a special election to fill the unexpired term <br />of a vacancy on the City Council to be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2005; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of California Election Code Section <br />10400, elections called to be held on the same day and in the same territory, may be <br />consolidated upon the order of the governing body calling the election; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redwood City desires to consolidate <br />the aforesaid General Municipal Election with a Special Municipal Election of the City of <br />Redwood City to be held on November 8, 2005. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />Pursuant to the provisions of Section 4 of the Charter of the City of Redwood City <br />and Ordinance No. 2078, adopted April 11, 1994, a General Municipal Election <br />shall be held on November 8, 2005, for the purpose of electing three (3) City <br />Council Members for the full term of four (4) years each. <br />2. Pursuant to Section 10400 of the California Elections Code, the City Council of <br />the City of Redwood City orders the consolidation of the General Municipal <br />Election of the City of Redwood City with the Special Municipal Election of the <br />City of Redwood City to be held on November 8, 2005. <br />3. Said consolidated election shall, in all particulars not recited herein, be <br />conducted as provided by law for the holding of Municipal Elections in the City of <br />Redwood City. <br />Atty /Reso /Reso.1531 14653 <br />060605 1 Muff # 307 <br />
