<br />02/11/2008 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14839 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF AN <br />APPLICATION FOR THE EARLY ENTRY SHELTER PROGRAM (EESP) <br />AT THE FAIR OAKS COMMUNITY CENTER TO THE SAN MATEO <br />COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING FOR COMMUNITY <br />DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANTS FOR (CDBG) FUNDING FOR <br />FISCAL YEAR 2008-2009 IN THE SUM OF TWENTY THOUSAND <br />DOLLARS AND DESIGNATING TERI CHIN, HUMAN SERVICES <br />MANAGER AS THE CONTACT PERSON <br /> <br />WHEREAS, In April 2007, as a part of HOPE, the 10 year plan to end <br />homelessness in San Mateo County, the Fair Oaks Community Center launched the <br />Early Entry Shelter Pilot Program with $25,000 from the County of San Mateo Human <br />Services Agency and in partnership with Shelter Network's Maple Street Shelter and <br />Samaritan House' Safe Harbor Shelter; and <br />WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Human Services Agency has encouraged <br />the City of Redwood City (the "City") to apply for funding through the Office of Housing <br />for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for services provided to Early <br />Entry Shelter Program (EESP) through the Fair Oaks Community Center; and <br />WHEREAS, the City intends to submit an application for Twenty Thousand <br />Dollars ($20,000.00) for San Mateo County CDBG funds for the Early Shelter Program; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City staff has been informed that said application must be <br /> <br />accompanied by a resolution from the City Council authorizing submission of said <br /> <br />application and designating a contact person. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. Authorize the submission of the application for Twenty Thousand Dollars <br />($20,000.00) for San Mateo County CDBG funds for the Early Shelter Program <br />at the Fair Oaks Community Center. <br /> <br />2.
