01/12/2009 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14919 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE THE <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF BOATING AND <br />WATERWAYS FOR THE ABATEMENT OF ABANDONED, WRECKED, OR <br />DISMANTLED WATERCRAFT <br />WHEREAS, on September 25, 2008 the California Department of Boating and Waterways <br />(CDBW) approved an application by the Redwood City Police Department for the removal and <br />disposal of abandoned, wrecked, or dismantled watercraft, which pose a substantial hazard to <br />navigation in Redwood City Waterways; and <br />WHEREAS, the CDBW awarded a grant, not to exceed $10,000, to reimburse the Police <br />Department for costs associated with the abatement of abandoned watercraft which must be used by <br />June 30, 2009; and <br />WHEREAS, a resolution is necessary for the Chief of Police to execute the agreement with the <br />California Department of Boating and Waterways; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are hereby incorporated by this <br />reference as if fully set forth in their entirety. <br />2. That the Chief of Police is authorized to execute the agreement with the California <br />Department of Boating and Waterways as attached and incorporated hereto as <br />"Attachment 2," for the removal and disposal of abandoned, wrecked, or dismantled <br />watercraft, which poses a substantial hazard to navigation in Redwood City <br />Waterways. <br />r� <br />ATTY /RESO/RES0.1877 <br />121008 <br />14919 <br />MUFF # 505 <br />
