<br />..~ ,,. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />SWC:mf 5/13/81 <br /> <br />8855 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE WEEK OF MAY 17-23, 1981 <br />AS BUILDING AND SAFETY WEEK IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Building construction is one of the State's largest, <br /> <br />most important and vital industries, and the regulation of such <br /> <br />construction provides for an effective means to safeguard life <br /> <br />or limb, health, property and public welfare; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens of the City of <br /> <br />Redwood City clearly understand the reasons for state and local <br /> <br />building code requirements, in order that they may properly support <br /> <br />this vital enforcement, and cooperate with the officials required <br /> <br />to carry them out; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Building Officals in the City of Redwood City and <br /> <br />throughout the State of California are currently pursuing the <br /> <br />task of educating the public on the latest construction methods <br /> <br />/' <br />and materials, such as the use of solar energy, conservation of <br /> <br />depletable energy resources, seismic-restrictive elements, sound <br /> <br />attenuation, and access to buildings for the physically handicapped; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLO\vS: <br /> <br />This Council does hereby designate the week of May 17-23, 1981 <br /> <br />as "Building and Safety ~veek" in the Ci ty of Redwood City, and <br /> <br />does hereby commend the Building Official and his staff for their <br /> <br />part in educating the citizens of Redwood City in the need for, <br /> <br />and importance of, building and safety regulations. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />8855 <br />
