01/09/2017 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2430 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AMENDING <br />SECTIONS 9.7 AND 9.15 OF CHAPTER 9 OF THE REDWOOD CITY <br />MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING NOTICES TO ABATE NUISANCE AND <br />EFFECTS ON BUILDING CODE <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 9 of the Redwood City Municipal Code governs building <br />regulations; and <br />WHEREAS, Article II of Chapter 9 of the Redwood City Municipal Code specifically <br />governs unsafe buildings; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to amend certain provisions of Article II <br />of Chapter 9 of the Redwood City Municipal Code as described herein; and <br />WHEREAS, this Ordinance was found to be categorically exempt from <br />environmental review, per the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act of <br />1970, as amended, 14 California Code of Regulations Section 15061(b)(3); and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redwood City is the decision-making <br />body for this Ordinance; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council has reviewed and considered the Statement of <br />Exemption determination under CEQA prior to taking any approval actions on this <br />Ordinance. <br />SECTION 1. The foregoing recitals are, and each of them is, true and correct and <br />constitute the findings in this matter. <br />SECTION 2. The Redwood City Municipal Code is hereby amended as shown in <br />Sections 3 and 4 by adding the text shown in underline (example) and deleting the text <br />shown in strikeout (exile). The other Sections and all text in brackets, [example] are <br />informational only and need not be published in the Municipal Code. <br />SECTION 3. Section 9.7 "Notice to Abate Nuisance" of the Redwood City <br />Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: <br />Sec. 9.7. Notice to Abate Nuisance: <br />Whenever the Building Inspector shall find any building or structure which is a dangerous <br />building or a fire hazard as those terms are described in Section 9.5, or which is otherwise <br />in a condition or state which endangers the life, health, property or safety of the public or <br />its occupants, he shall give notice, in the manner hereinafter stated, directing the owner <br />thereof to appear before the City Council at a stated time and show cause why such <br />building or structure should not be condemned as a public nuisance and such nuisance <br />be abated as herein provided.
