<br /> DAL:dft 1/05/91 (003/10) <br /> DES:dft /11/91R <br /> o RIG I N A L 3/25/91 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2036 <br /> --------- <br /> ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> ESTABLISHING A DOWNTOWN BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREA AND <br /> ITS BENEFIT ZONES IN A PORTION OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 36500 ET SEQ. OF THE <br /> STREETS AND HIGHWAY CODE; DESCRIBING THE BOUNDARIES OF <br /> THE PROPOSED AREA; STATING THE USES TO WHICH THE <br /> REVENUES FROM THE ASSESSMENTS WILL BE PUT; DESCRIBING <br /> THE METHOD AND BASIS OF LEVYING THE ASSESSMENT; AND <br /> MAKING A DETERMINATION REGARDING PROTESTS <br /> WHEREAS, Downtown Parking and Business Improvement Area <br />No. 1 (see Exhibit. A-3 for the boundar ie s) was established in <br />1968 by Ordinance No. 1359 in accordance with the Parking and <br />Business Improvement Area Law of 1965 (Sts. & Hwy. Code §36000 et <br />seq. ) ; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the public interest. to expand the <br />boundaries of the District pursuant. to superseding legislat.ion; <br />and <br /> WHEREAS, said superseding legislation, St.reets & Highway <br />Code §36500 et seq. , provides a procedure for the establishment <br />of Downtown Parking and Business Improvement Areas and for the <br />operation thereof; and <br /> WHEREAS, a Formation Committee comprised of persons from <br />business owners within the area proposed to be est.ablished, the <br />Downtown Association, t.he Chamber of Commerce, city staff and <br />members of the City Council have conferred and met and reached a <br />consensus on the boundaries for the proposed Downtown Business <br />Improvement Area, the assessment formula and type of activities <br />to be sponsored thereunder. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />- <br />
