Chapter 33 of the Code of the City of Redwood <br />City is hereby repealed. <br />SECTION 2. Chapter 33 is hereby added to the Code of the <br />City of Redwood City to read as follows: <br /> "CHAPTER 33. TAXICABS <br /> "ARTICLE I. DEFINITIONS <br /> "Section 33.1. For the purposes of this chapter, the <br />following words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively <br />ascribed to them by this section: <br /> " (1) Driver. A driver is every person in direct and <br />immediate possession of, in charge of, or operating a taxicab. <br /> " (2) Owner. An owner is every person, firm, <br />partnership, association or corporation having proprietary use, <br />ownership or control of any taxicab or fleet of taxicabs. <br /> " (3) Taxicab. A taxicab is a motor propelled vehicle <br />equipped with a taximeter, and which is used for the <br />transportation of passengers for hire over and along the public <br />streets, not over a defined route, but as to route and <br />destination in accordance with and under the direction of the <br />person hiring such vehicle, for compensation fixed by the <br /> .1k81 <br /> >- -.."-.... <br />
