RESOLUTION NO. 19-14 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL <br />DESIGNATE 1633 HOPKINS A HISTORIC LANDMARK AND <br />APPROVE A HISTORIC PRESERVATION AGREEMENT <br />WHEREAS, on October 29, 2018, Erin Friday and Richard Friday (Property <br />Owner/Applicant) applied for a Mills Act Contract (Project) at 1633 Hopkins Avenue <br />(APN: 052-235-230) in Redwood City, California; and <br />WHEREAS, on August 8, 2019, the Historic Resources Advisory Committee <br />(HRAC) held a duly noticed public hearing in accordance with all applicable <br />requirements of the State Planning and Zoning Law and the Redwood City Municipal <br />Code to consider the Project; and <br />WHEREAS, the HRAC has determined that the property meets Criterion C for <br />designation as a historic landmark according to the historic designation criteria <br />established by the Redwood City Historic Preservation Ordinance (Chapter 40 of the <br />Redwood City Code) and recommended by a vote of 5-0 local landmark designation; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the HRAC recommended that a Historic Preservation Agreement <br />(Mills Act Contract) be approved for 1633 Hopkins Avenue by a vote of 5-0; and <br />WHEREAS, on October 4, 2019, a public hearing notice of the Planning <br />Commission hearing was published in the San Mateo Daily Journal and sent to the <br />Property Owner; and <br />WHEREAS, on October 15, 2019, the Planning Commission held a duly noticed <br />public hearing in accordable with all applicable requirements of the State Planning and <br />Zoning Law, the Redwood City Municipal Code, and the Zoning Ordinance to consider <br />the Project; and <br />WHERAS, the residence and property located at 1633 Hopkins Avenue, <br />Redwood City, California, does meet the historic designation criteria established by the <br />Redwood City Historic Preservation Ordinance as follows: <br />Criterion C: It embodies distinctive characteristics of a style, type, period or <br />method of construction, or is a valuable example of the use of <br />indigenous materials or craftsmanship, because it is an outstanding <br />example of the Craftsman Architectural Style. <br />ATTY/RESO.0095/PC RESO RECOMMENDING HISTORIC LANDMARK & APPROVE HISTORIC PRESERVATION AGR— 1633 HOPKINS <br />REV: 10-07-19 PR <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
