06/08/2020 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15847 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY CALLING FOR THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL <br />ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2020, FOR THE <br />ELECTION OF FOUR MUNICIPAL OFFICERS FOR SEATS IN COUNCIL <br />DISTRICTS 1, 3, 4, AND 7 TO THE VOTERS WHO RESIDE IN THOSE <br />DISTRICTS AS REQUIRED BY THE CITY'S CHARTER AND THE LAWS <br />OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 4 of the Charter of the City of <br />Redwood City, Ordinance No. 2433, adopted March 13, 2017, and the laws of the State <br />of California, the General Municipal Election of the City of Redwood City shall be held on <br />Tuesday, November 3, 2020, for the election of municipal officers; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires to consolidate aforesaid General Municipal <br />Election. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. That pursuant to Section 4 of the Charter of the City of Redwood City, <br />Ordinance No. 2433, and the laws of the State of California, there is called and ordered <br />to be held in the City of Redwood City, California, on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, a <br />Municipal Election for the purposes of electing one person each from City Council Districts <br />1, 3, 4 and 7 for a total of four Council Members to serve a full term of four years each. <br />2. That the ballots to be used at the election shall be in the form and content <br />as required by law. <br />3. That the City Clerk is authorized, instructed and directed to coordinate with <br />the County of San Mateo Chief Elections Officer to procure and furnish any and all official <br />ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphenalia that may be <br />necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct the election. <br />4. That the polls for the election shall be open at seven o'clock a.m. of the day <br />of the election and shall remain open continuously from the that time until 8:00 o'clock <br />p.m. of the same day when the polls shall be closed, pursuant to California Election Code <br />section 10242, except as provided in California Election Code section 14401, and as <br />otherwise set forth by law if the City of Redwood City participates in an all -mail ballot <br />election as provided for by California Election Code section 4000. <br />ATTY/RESO.0038/CC RE50 CALLING FOR HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION NOV 3, 2020-4 MUNICIPAL OFFICERS <br />REV: 06-02-2020 SK RESO.
