MINUTE ORDER <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> <br /> October 16, 2000 <br /> MO. 00-314 <br /> <br />CITY CLERK DEPARTMENT <br />Redwood City <br /> <br />DATE: October 17, 2000 <br /> <br />Attention: City Attorney <br /> Planning <br /> <br />SUBJECT Approval of Recommendations - Accessory Dwelling Unit Ordinance <br />Meeting of the Council of the City of Redwood City on October 16, 2000. <br /> <br />Present: Councilmember Hartnett, Howard, Ira, Jordan, Pierce, Vice Mayor Claire and <br /> Mayor Ruskin <br /> <br />Absent: None <br /> <br />The following motion was made, carried and entered on the Minutes: <br /> <br />M/S: M/S Hartnett/Jordan motion passed by a majority roll call vote with Council <br /> Member Ira and Vice Mayor Claire voting no. <br /> <br />Motion to not introduce the ordinance; develop recommendations for consideration; clear <br />notification of proposed recommendations to be given prior to adoption of the ordinance; <br />and distribution would state that Council is considering a revision to the second dwelling <br />ordinance that would include the following: <br />1) The ordinance would be changed to allow a property owner to reside in either the <br /> main or second unit while allowing exception where undue hardship exists; <br />2) The unit size to be only 640 square feet regardless of lot size; <br />3) One additional parking space to be required, may be uncovered or tandem parking <br /> located in the driveway but not within the 20-fi. garage setback; <br />4) Garage must be used for vehicle storage; <br />5) A nondiscretionary permit with public notification would be required; <br />6) An amnesty program of up to two years would be established to include the deed <br /> restriction concept relative to allowing properties without an owner living onsite <br /> but that are otherwise legal can remain as is until change of ownership; <br />7) The unit setback would remain at 20 feet in the rear. <br /> <br />Patricia S.
