<br />11/10/2008 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14906 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AMENDING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT BUDGET FOR <br />FISCAL YEAR 2008-09 TO PROVIDE $18,000 FOR MAINTENANCE <br />AND EQUIPMENT FOR PATROL VESSEL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 1996, the City of Redwood City ("City") Police Department commenced <br /> <br />operation of a patrol boat for such purposes as marine search and rescue operations, maritime <br /> <br />law enforcement and patrol operations, and allied agency mutual aid; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City's original patrol vessel has not been in serviceable condition for <br /> <br />three years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the California Department of Boating and Waterways has agreed, upon <br /> <br />execution of a Memorandum of Understanding with the City, to provide the City with a police <br /> <br />patrol vessel for a period of 7.5 years or until 2015; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City's acceptance of a patrol vessel will cause the Police Department to <br /> <br />incur service, maintenance, and equipment costs associated with operating the vessel; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on July 21, 2008, the City Council approved its Fiscal Year 2008-09 <br /> <br />budget; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during the course of a fiscal year, the City Council may take actions that <br /> <br />change or modify the City's existing and approved budgets; and <br /> <br />A TTY /RESO/RESO.1868 <br />110508 <br /> <br />14906 <br />MUFF #706 <br />
