<br />., <br /> <br />DES:mf 8/5/81 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N N O. <br /> <br />8932 <br /> <br />OHIGINAL <br />AUG 1 0 1981 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF JOINT EXERCISE <br />OF POWERS AGREEMENT RELATING TO SOLID WASTE COLLECTION <br />AND TRANSFER FACILITIES <br />(South Bayside Transfer Station) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo, a charter county of the <br /> <br />State of California, and the cities of Atherton, Belmont, <br /> <br />Burlingame, Foster City, Hillsborough, Menlo Park, San Carlos, <br /> <br />Redwood City, and San Mateo, municipal corporations of the <br /> <br />State of California, and the Menlo Park Sanitary District, a <br /> <br />political subdivision of the State of California (the "Agencies") <br /> <br />all regulate and make provision for the collection of solid <br /> <br />wastes in areas under their respective jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the respective franchisees of said agencies <br /> <br />deposit such solid wastes in a local area which, in the near <br /> <br />future, will no longer be available for such purpose; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the currently most practicably available disposal <br /> <br />site for the near future, commonly known as the "Ox Mountain <br /> <br />site", is so located as to require the use of a solid waste <br /> <br />collection processing and transfer station; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposal to use such a transfer station is <br /> <br />an integral part of the San Mateo County Solid Waste Management <br /> <br />plan approved by the State Solid Waste Management Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Browning-Ferris Industries, a corporation, has <br /> <br />expressed a willingness to construct and operate a solid waste <br /> <br />transfer station in the City of San Carlos; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said city and Browning-Ferris Industries have <br /> <br />entered into an agreement permitting said company to construct <br /> <br />and operate such transferstation; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the solid waste collected <br /> <br />8932 <br />
