<br />- <br /> <br />:~,~_,~ -;,"R., <br /> <br />RESOLUTI01! <br />CONCERNING WIDENmG OF EL CAUmO REAL <br />WHEREAS, a portion of that certain State HighwS\V more commonly <br />known as El Camino Real passes practically thrO'tlgh the center of the Oi ty <br />of Redwood Oity for a distance of approx1mate~ S,ooO feet with a width <br />of 66 feet, and <br />WHEREAS, the traffic count on said lel Camino Real on Sund~, <br />July 1, 1934, was the sum of 14.2qQ cars, as compared with a CO'Ul'lt of 13.02Q <br />cars on the :Bayshore H1ghw~ as of the same date, and <br />WHEREAS, due to the great increase of State Highway traffic on <br />said E1 Camino Real, public convenience and necessity demands that said <br />portion of said highw~ be widened to a width of 100 feet and properly sur- <br />faced to accommodate said traffic, and <br />WHEREAS, the obvious necessity of said ultimate widening to accom- <br />modate the ever -increasing State Highway traffic on said 11 Oamino Real and <br />the absence of definite plans for the financing the same has greatly impaired <br />property values bordering on said State Highw~, and <br />WRmRWtAS, the City Council of the City of Redwood City is desirous <br />of assisting the State Highwa;r Commission in any wa:y possible, subject to the <br />approval of the residents of Redwood Oity and the owners of property fronting <br />on said improvement, by the establisbnent of proper set-back line$ and aiding <br />in the securing of proper widening areas. <br />NOV, THEREFORE, :BE IT RESOLVED, <br />That the state Highwq Oomnission be requested to allocate in its <br />budget for the next bienni'Ulll a proper sum of money to be used in connection <br />with the city's share of the gasoline tax, together with any other public <br />funds that mq be available from other sources, for t~ development of a .pro- <br />ject whereby actual construction work ms:y be started on said improvement at <br />the earliest date possible. The Council feels this should be done without <br />further del8\V due to the fact that final plans for said iq;)rovement. have now <br />been completed by the State Higbr~ Oommission's engineering department and <br />any protracted delq will undoubtedly enhance both acquisition and construction <br /> <br />
