<br /> <br />L ..J <br /> <br />,," <br /> <br />- , <br /> <br />,,,,,.,'; <br /> <br />!!!2.k!!.1!Q.l <br /> <br />:RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Redwood City <br /> <br />memorallze the'Legislature of California to oppose and reject any <br /> <br />increase in the gross premium tax levied ostensibly upon life <br /> <br />insurance companies, but which is in fact actually borne by the <br /> <br />policyholders, because any gross premiums tax is a tax upon thrift <br /> <br />and falls upon those least able to pay, and any such tax penalizes <br /> <br />those who are endeavoring through' meager resources to provide for <br /> <br />their dependents and old age. <br /> <br />The foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the <br /> <br />Council of the City of Redwood City at its regular meeting held on <br /> <br />the 1st day of April, 1935, by the following vote: <br /> <br />qes and in favor of the passage of the 'foregoing resolu- <br /> <br />tion: Councilmen, L. C. Christensen, J. M. Eva, E. A. Fletcher, <br /> <br />Robt. N. Jones, P. A. McCarthy, G. W. McNulty, C. G.
