<br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a dispute between PACIFIC PORTLAND CEMENT OOMPA1TY and its <br />employees over wages and other questions recently resulted in a strike" <br />of said employees; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS said strike was promptly followed by intelligent and fair <br />negotiations between said employer and said employees which have resulted <br />in a very prompt adjustment of said disputes and the signing of ~~ree- <br />ments between said employer and said employees for continued economic <br />peace and harmony; and <br /> <br />WHERIDAS, such conduct 1s wort:tvof commendation because of the <br />interest of the public in the settlement of such disputes; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Oity Oouncil of Redwood Oity <br />that Pacific Portland Oement Company and the employees thereof be <br />publicly commended for their prompt action in effecting a settlement <br />of said disputes through negotiations and mutual co~cessions; <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That other groups of employees and other <br />employers be urged to show the same intelligence, moderation and con- <br />sideration for the rights of each other and their mutual duties to each <br />other to the end that this region may avoid the bitter strife that in <br />other parts of this country too frequently followed differences between <br />employers and employees over wages, working conditions, rights of collective <br />bargaining 8...'I1.d other industrial and economic questions; <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution, certified <br />by the Olerk of this council, be forwarded to Pacific Portland Oement <br />Company, United Cement Workers Union, Loca1760, International Association <br />of Machinists, Local 6s, Electricians Union 617 and Oarpenters Union. <br />and <br />Ayes/in favor of the passage of the foregoing Resolution, Councilmen <br />L. C. Christensen, J. M. Eva, E. A. Fletcher, Wm. Hohn, Robert N. Jones, <br />Geo. W. MeNul ty, and Mayor Paul A.
