<br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N NO. 155 <br /> <br />URGING CALIFORNIA HIGHVVAY COMIVIISSION AND DEPARTMENT <br />OF PUBLIC WORKS TO INCLUDE EL CAMIllO REAL AND SUP- <br />PLEMENTAL ROUTES IN PLANNING PROGRAM AND TO COMPLETE <br />PLANS. <br /> <br />'RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Redwood <br /> <br />City: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, El Camino Real is one of the major high- <br />ways through San Mateo County, and carries a large part of <br />the automobile traffic originating in the' westerly part of <br /> <br />San Francisco, in addition to much local traffic in San Mateo <br /> <br />County; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under present conditions, said highway <br />from Redwood City northerly, is inadequate to properly handle <br />said traffic during peak loads; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a large increase in automobile traffic is <br /> <br />to be expected after the war, adding to the conges tion on said <br /> <br />highway; and <br />WHEREAS, it would be of great value, both to the <br /> <br />communities of San Mateo County and to the owners of property <br />along or adjacent to said highway, to know what the ultimate <br />width and type of said highway is to be; <br />NOW, THERF~ORE, be it resolved, that the California <br />Highway Commission, and the Department of Public Works' of the <br />state of California be urged to take immediate action to in- <br /> <br />elude said El Camino Real and supplemental routes in its plan- <br />ning program, and to complete said plans and furnish copies <br />thereof to the interested communities at as early a date as <br /> <br />possible. <br /> <br />The above and foregoing resolution was passed and <br /> <br />adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a regular <br /> <br />meeting thereof held on the 18th day of December, 1944, by the <br /> <br />-1- <br />
