<br />RESOLUTION <br />..... - - - .-. ..... -.... - -....... . <br />.' .-~ SU) <br />~1I, 'k...' <br />JLDL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Joint Highway Pistrict /110 di~<in 19'9 have It survey <br /> <br /> <br />aade otthe southerly extension of Junipera Serra BOulevard from Sneath <br /> <br />Lane to the southerly boundary of Ban h tea County, ,,'lhis survey showing <br />the right of way running immedis.tely west of Burlingame, through the C1 ty <br />of Hillsborougb. and 'West of the City of 8an Mateo, through the Cities of <br />Belmont and San Carlos, throu.gh a portion of Redwood 01 ty and immediately <br />west thereof, and through the City of Atherton and weat of Menlo Park to <br />San Franc1squito Creek; and <br />WHAW.S, members of the several P1.anning Commission, of the above <br /> <br />mentioned cities, including San Bruno and excepting MenlQ Park, at a joint <br /> <br /> <br />meeting in San C.a.rloB; on March 29, 1945, held th.at a freeway buUt along <br /> <br />said surveyed route WQuld cause inestimable damage to these Cities, all <br /> <br />communi ties through. .hier! it passed and many public !net1 tutions; and <br /> <br />~, it was further held tit freewe..y built along said surveyed <br />route would irreparabl,. 11m! t the orderly and controlled expansion of these <br /> <br />several cities to the west; and <br />~, the Planning Collllllission of the City of ~,.,~ ~ <br />concurs in these views, and i.s unalterably opposed to the construction of <br /> <br />the Junipera Serra. Boulevard freeway along the said surveyed route; <br /> <br />NOW, TllEIiEFORE" BE IT RESOLVED, that. it is the unanimous opinion <br />of' the City CouncU of the City of ~ ~ that the Juni.pera <br />Serra Boulevard freeway should not be constructed along the sa.id surveyed <br /> <br />route; and <br /> <br />BE IT FUR.rHER IUl;SOLVED, that by unanimous vote the Oi ty Council of <br /> <br />the City ot ~...{ ~ <br /> <br />requests the San Mateo Count.y Board of <br /> <br />npervi$ors that they instruct the San Mateo County- Planning Commissi.on and <br />the San Mateo County Engineer to make, as soon as possible, a survey of an <br /> <br />al.ternate route from the end of the present Junipera Serra Boulevard exten- <br /> <br />sian at Sneath Lane to the Skyline Bouleve,rd at Crystal Springs Road west <br />
