RESOLUTION NO. 15961 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY ADOPTING REDWOOD CITY'S 2020 URBAN WATER <br />MANAGEMENT PLAN AND AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS <br />SERVICES DIRECTOR TO COMPILE AND SUBMIT THE 2020 URBAN <br />WATER MANAGEMENT PLAN TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES PRIOR TO JULY 1, 2021 <br />WHEREAS, the Urban Water Management Planning Act, contained in the <br />California Water Code Section 10610 et seq., requires that urban water suppliers serving <br />more than 3,000 customers or providing more than 3,000 acre - feet of water annually to <br />develop an Urban Water Management Plan every fifth year ending in six and one; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City is an urban supplier of more than 3,000 <br />acre-feet of water annually to greater than 3,000 customers; and <br />WHEREAS, Public Works Services has prepared Redwood City's 2020 Urban <br />Water Management Plan pursuant to the State of California's Urban Water Management <br />Planning Act; and <br />WHEREAS, the Urban Water Management Plan will facilitate local and regional <br />water planning activities and support the City of Redwood City's long-term water resource <br />planning goals; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 10642 of the California Water Code, the <br />active involvement of diverse social, cultural, and economic elements of the population <br />within the service area prior to and during the prepare of the plan was encouraged through <br />public outreach; and <br />WHEREAS, local water retailers, public agencies, and special interest groups were <br />notified of the City's intent to prepare a 2020 Urban Water Management Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, a community meeting was held on June 10, 2021 to provide <br />information and to receive input on the Urban Water Management Plan, and notice of the <br />meeting was provided through the City's social media channels and published on the <br />City's events calendar; and <br />WHEREAS, Senate Bill X7-7, otherwise known as the Water Conservation Bill of <br />2009, requires a public hearing to discuss the method of determining urban water use <br />targets and the impacts to the local economy from meeting said requirements; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City has prepared and circulated for public <br />review a draft 2020 Urban Water Management Plan, and on June 14, 2021 the City <br />Council held a duly noticed public hearing and considered the Urban Water Management <br />Plan, the Water Shortage Contingency Plan, staff report and all public testimony in <br />compliance with the requirements of California Water Code Section 10642 and California <br />Government Code Section 6066. <br />ATTY/RESO.0038-CC RESO ADOPTING THE 2020 UWMP RESO.
