<br />RESOLUTION NO. 557 <br /> <br />AUTHORIZING REMOVAL OF RACIAL RESTRICTIONS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the northeasterly one-half of Lot 8, front and <br /> <br />rear measurements, Block K, Boyd and Kent Additi~n, was sold to <br /> <br />the City of Redwood City for delinquent taxes and Lillie Cantino <br /> <br /> <br />thereafter purchased said lot and obtained a deed from the City <br /> <br />of Redwood City, in which deed racial restrictions were inserted <br /> <br />restricting occupancy thereof to members of the "Caucasian race; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said property is situated in an area which is <br /> <br />generally occupied by non-Caucasians and said restrictive clause <br /> <br />was inadvertently inserted in said deed; <br /> <br />RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />that all restrictions as to racial occupancy of said property be <br /> <br />and they are hereby removed and the owner of ~aid property and <br /> <br />any successor in interest is hereby freed from any restrictions <br /> <br />with respect to occupancy of aaid property. <br /> <br />FURTHER RESOLVEID that a copy of this resolution duly <br />certified by the Clerk of the City be delivered to said Lillie <br /> <br />Cantino for recordation. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a <br /> <br /> <br />regular meeting thereof held on the 15th day of March, 1948, by <br /> <br /> <br />the following vote: <br /> <br />AYES, and in favor of the adoption of the foregoing <br /> <br />resolution: Br~tschgi, Granger, Holmquist, swift, Werder & Hilton. <br /> <br />NOES: None. <br /> <br />ABSENT: McNulty <br /> <br />~ <br />Ut. to. .~~~- <br />Mayor of the . y of Redwood City. <br /> <br /> <br />u <br /> <br />~-- I" <br />.~ <br /> <br />Redwood city <br /> <br />I hereby approve the foregoing <br />Resolution this 15th day of <br />March....194.8.. ~.... .. <br />~.
