RESOLUTION NO. 15984 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY TO INITIATE PROCEEDINGS TO AMEND THE <br />GENERAL PLAN AND T HE DOWNTOWN PRECISE PLAN IN <br />CONNECTION WITH THE AMENDED PROJECT AT 901, 947, AND 999 <br />EL CAMINO REAL AND 920 SHASTA <br />WHEREAS, an application submitted by Kenson Ventures (the "Applicant"), to <br />construct a mixed-use office, residential, and teen center at 901, 947, and 999 EI Camino <br />Real and 2529 Broadway (the "Project") was initiated by the City Council on October 12, <br />2020; and <br />WHEREAS, the Applicant seeks modification to the initiated Project, including <br />increased office space, teen center, open space, street configuration, and offsite <br />affordable housing (the "Amended Project"); and <br />WHEREAS, the Applicant seeks a General Plan Amendment to allow an increase <br />in the maximum allowable development for office development and residential units in <br />the Downtown (the "General Plan Amendment"); and <br />WHEREAS, the implementation of the Amended Project requires an amendment <br />to the Downtown Precise Plan ("DTPP") of the City of Redwood City to allow an increase <br />in the maximum allowable development for office and residential units in the DTPP area <br />(the ""). The General Plan Amendment and the DTPP Amendment are collectively <br />referred to herein as the "Amendments;" and <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City Code Section 18.61 of the provides that the City <br />Council may adopt a resolution of intention to initiate proceedings to amend the <br />General Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City Zoning Ordinance Section 52.5(A) provides that an <br />interested party may request that the City initiate the amendment of a Precise Plan by <br />submitting said request to the Planning Director or designee. The interested party is the <br />Applicant, and the request of initiation is accompanied by materials supportive of the <br />request and showing the nature of the requested DTPP amendment that include <br />statements justifying why the proper functioning of the community requires the <br />amendment of the DTPP as proposed and why the amended DTPP is more suitable for <br />the area than the existing DTPP; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's policy is to bundle all related requests and have them acted <br />upon by the highest approval authority, in this case being the City Council; and <br />ATTY/RESO.0067/CC RESO INITIATING AMENDMENTS TO 901 EL CAMINO RESO NO. 15984 <br />REV: 09-03-21 VR MUFF # 601 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
