ST1j\J:il:PORD pas sed from <br />this lii'e to his eternal reward and it is fitting that the City Council <br />of the City of Redwood City appropriately record his long, raithful and <br />distinguished public services in this community; <br />NOVV, THERElilOH3, BE rl1 HSSOLVED by the Oi ty Council of the Oi ty <br />of Redwood City that we here record the esteem and affection in yrhich <br />the said DANIEL R. srf..A};'F10RD is and, for more than fii"'ty (50) years, <br />has been held by members of this Council, the officers and nlembers of <br />this c.ity government; that we hereby cOlmnemorate J'vlr. Stafford's out- <br />standing services to this City as Clerk-Assessor, as a member of the <br />ci ty council, as lVla~ror of thi s ci ty, as a member of the Oi ty Planning <br />Commission, as organizer of the first Chamber of Commerce, for donating <br />to the city a large parcel of property in the west residential area <br />for a playground and future branch library site, now known as Stafford <br />P!..~.rl;::, and for plaJTing a leadlng role for 'more th8.11 half a century in <br />the city's business and residential growth. <br /> <br />BL~ 1'r }i'lJRTHEH fU~SOLVED that we attest the stel"lin3 character <br />of our friend, his courage, devotion to public service, often at great <br />personal sacrifice, his integrity and reliability, and his wholehearted <br />support of all thin.gs which would make his city a better one in which <br />to live. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread on the <br />minutes of this Council, that we adjourn this meeting in memory of <br />DANIEL R. STAFFORD, and that copies of this resolution, certified by <br />our Clerk, be sent to his son and daughters, to whom we extend our <br />sympathies in this bereavement. <br />
