MINUTE ORDER <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> <br /> November 25, 1996 <br /> MO. 96-293 <br />CITY CLERK DEPARTMENT <br />Redwood City <br /> <br />DATE: November 26,1996 <br /> <br />Attention: City Manager <br /> City Attorney <br /> Finance Director <br /> Redevelopment Director <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Support Downtown Merchants Group (403) <br /> <br />Meeting of the Council of the City of Redwood City on November 25, 1996. <br /> <br />Present: Councilmembers Buchan,Claire, Howard, La Berge, Leipzig, Ruskin and Mayor Hartnett <br /> <br />Absent: None <br /> <br />The following motion was made, carried and entered on the Minutes: <br /> <br /> M/S: RUSKIN/LEIPZIG MOVE THAT COUNCIL INSTRUCT STAFF TO <br /> RECOMMEND TO THE CITY COUNCIL ANY ACTIONS THAT WOULD <br /> SUPPORT EFFORTS OF MERCHANTS SHOULD MERCHANTS TAKE <br /> INDEPENDENT STEPS TO FORM AN ASSOCIATION. <br /> <br /> After Councilman Leipzig's concerns regarding spending staff time and <br /> resources, Mayor Hartnett offered the following restatement of the motion: <br /> "In recognition that a merchant's group is forming, we support the formation <br /> of The Downtown Merchants Group and ask staff, at an appropriate time, to <br /> make recommendations .... as to how we might support that in some way?" <br /> <br /> The maker and seconder of the motion agreed to the rephrasing of the <br /> motion. <br /> <br /> CARRIED BY UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE. <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
