proclamation <br />Recognizing Second Harvest Silicon Valley <br />November 2025 <br />WHEREAS, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley has been a steadfast partner in the fight against <br />hunger, providing nutritious food to hundreds of thousands of individuals and families across San <br />Mateo and Santa Clara counties; and <br />WHEREAS, since its founding, Second Harvest has built a compassionate community network of <br />donors, volunteers, and partner agencies dedicated to ensuring that no one in our community goes <br />hungry; and <br />WHEREAS, food insecurity remains a critical issue in the Bay Area, impacting seniors, children, <br />working families, and individuals striving to make ends meet in one of the most expensive regions <br />in the nation; and <br />WHEREAS, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley distributes millions of pounds of healthy food every <br />month, supporting the well-being, dignity, and stability of our neighbors in need; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City recognizes that addressing hunger strengthens our entire <br />community and reaffirms our shared values of compassion, inclusion, and equity; and <br />WHEREAS, the dedicated staff and volunteers of Second Harvest embody the spirit of service and <br />generosity that makes Redwood City and the greater Peninsula a place where all can thrive. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED THAT I, ELMER MARTINEZ SABALL OS, MAYOR <br />OF REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of Redwood City, do hereby <br />proclaim our heartfelt appreciation for Second Harvest of Silicon Valley and commend their <br />unwavering commitment to ending hunger and uplifting the lives of our residents. <br />Date: November 10, 2025 <br />Elmer Martinez Saballos, Mayor <br />." .
