<br />Honoring the Legacy ofDr. Jason Wong for his
<br />Outstanding Service, Leadership and
<br />Commitment to Community Health
<br />WHEREAS, Dr. Jason Wong faithfully served the residents of Redwood City and the greater San Mateo County
<br />community as the longtime Medical Director of the Samaritan House Free Clinic, dedicating more than
<br />seventeen years to expanding healthcare access for underserved populations; and
<br />WHEREAS, throughout his career, Dr. Wong demonstrated exceptional compassion, professionalism, and
<br />leadership, ensuring that thousands of low-income and uninsured patients received high-quality, dignified
<br />medical care; and
<br />WHEREAS, Dr. Wong advanced a holistic vision of community health, recognizing that medical well-being is
<br />deeply connected to social and economic factors, and he tirelessly worked to create programs that addressed
<br />these broader needs; and
<br />WHEREAS, Dr. Wong was the driving force behind the acclaimed Food Pharmacy initiative, which provided
<br />nutritious food prescriptions and education to patients managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, resulting
<br />in measurable improvements in health outcomes and receiving regional and national recognition; and
<br />WHEREAS, Dr. Wong's pioneering approach and dedication were widely acknowledged through news
<br />features, community awards, and institutional partnerships including recognition by CBS News, the Samaritan
<br />House Community Partnership Award from Stanford University, support from the Sequoia Healthcare District,
<br />and major grants from the Peninsula Health Care District all highlighting his transformative impact on local
<br />healthcare; and
<br />WHEREAS, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners consistently described Dr. Wong as a generous
<br />mentor, a collaborative leader, and an unwavering advocate for compassionate care, whose influence extended
<br />far beyond the walls of the clinic; and
<br />WHEREAS, his legacy endures in the countless lives he touched, the programs he built, and the community
<br />partnerships he strengthened, leaving Redwood City a healthier, more equitable, and more caring place; and
<br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City wishes to formally acknowledge and commemorate Dr. Wong's lifelong
<br />service, ensuring that his contributions remain an inspiration for generations to come.
<br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, ELMER MARTINEZ SABALLOS, MAYOR OF
<br />REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of Redwood City, do hereby honor
<br />the legacy of Dr. Jason Wong for his extraordinary dedication to improving community health, advancing
<br />compassionate and equitable care, and strengthening the well-being of residents throughout Redwood City and
<br />the surrounding region.
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Redwood City expresses its deepest gratitude to Dr. Wong, his
<br />family, colleagues, and the Samaritan House communityfor the profound and lasting impact of his service.
