proclamation <br />Honoring Mason Newblanc <br />WHEREAS, Jason Newblanc has faithfully served the residents of Redwood City for more than thirteen <br />and years as a dedicated member and leader of the Civic Cultural Commission and the Arts Commission; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, during his tenure, Jason played a transformative role in advancing public art throughout <br />Redwood City by helping establish the City's Public Art Program, developing public art processes and <br />policies, and advocating for the integration of art into community planning and development; and <br />WHEREAS, Jason championed numerous murals, public art installations, utility box projects, bike rack <br />art, youth art initiatives, and community -driven creative placemaking efforts that have enriched <br />neighborhoods and strengthened civic pride; and <br />WHEREAS, he served as a liaison and mentor to artists, developers, commissioners, staff, and community <br />organizations, helping guide major public art projects and percent -for -art initiatives while fostering <br />collaboration, transparency, and community engagement; and <br />WHEREAS, Jason helped lead the evolution of the Civic Cultural Commission into the Redwood City Arts <br />Commission, drafted ordinances and public art resources, created institutional knowledge tools and <br />commissioner guides, and worked tirelessly to improve long-term arts infrastructure and accessibility; and <br />WHEREAS, his advocacy extended beyond Redwood City through regional arts partnerships, public art <br />education, statewide mural advocacy efforts including support for SB456, and the creation of innovative <br />tools such as the Redwood City public art map and tours; and <br />WHEREAS, Jason's passion, creativity, leadership, and countless volunteer hours have left a lasting and <br />visible legacy that will continue to inspire artists, residents, and visitors for generations to come. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, ELMER MARTINEZ SABALLOS, MAYOR OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of Redwood City, do hereby <br />recognize and honor Jason Newblanc for his exceptional 13%z years of dedicated public service and <br />commend him for his enduring contributions to arts, culture, and community in Redwood City. <br />Date: July 13, 2026 <br />Elmer Marline., Saballos, Mayor <br />f.- <br />Kaia EEalkin, Vice Mayor <br />AA9 <br />Isabella Chu, Council Member <br />Jef Gee, Council Member <br />DianeHoouard, Council Member <br />Marcella Padilla, Council Member <br />Chris Samken, Council Member <br />
