RESO.0055- CC RESO CLASSIFICATION AND WAGE AND SALARY PLAN (FIREFIGHTER TRAINEE) <br />REV:08-20-26 ET <br />Page 1 of 8 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 16433 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY AND WAGE <br />PLAN FOR CLASSIFICATIONS REPRESENTED BY THE <br />INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIREFIGHTERS LOCAL 2400, <br />FOR THE CLASSIFICATION OF FIREFIGHTER TRAINEE, AND FOR <br />CLASSIFICATIONS REPRESENTED BY THE CHIEF OFFICERS <br />ASSOCATION <br />WHEREAS, the City and the International Association of Firefighters Local 2400 <br />(IAFF) have reached agreement on a Successor Memorandum of Understanding for July <br />1, 2026 – June 30, 2029; and <br />WHEREAS, the parties agreed to amend the classification and salary and wage <br />plan for Firefighter/Engineer classification by removing step one which changes salary <br />range from a six-step range to a five-step range and granting a 9.34% increase to base <br />salary effective July 13, 2026 that includes a 3% cost-of-living adjustment, a 1.34% equity <br />adjustment, and rolling 5% EMT pay into base salary, granting a 4.34% increase to base <br />salary effective July 12, 2027 that includes a 3% cost-of-living adjustment and a 1.34% <br />equity adjustment, and granting a 3% cost-of-living adjustment effective July 10, 2028; <br />for the classifications of Fire Prevention Officer and Deputy Fire Marshal, granting a 3% <br />cost-of-living adjustment each year of the three year term (effective July 13, 2026, July <br />12, 2027, and July 10, 2028); effective July 13, 2026, aligning base salary for <br />Firefighter/Engineer Paramedic classification to 12.5% above Firefighter/Engineer <br />classification base salary, aligning Fire Captain classification base salary to 13.5% above <br />Firefighter/Engineer Paramedic classification base salary that includes rolling 5% EMT <br />pay into base salary, and <br />WHEREAS, adjusting base salary for Firefighter Trainee classification to retain its <br />alignment of 80% of Firefighter/Engineer Step 1 base salary; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the Council approved Memorandum Of Understanding <br />between the City of Redwood City and the Redwood City Chief Officers Association, it is <br />agreed by the parties to align the COA classification of Battalion Chief with the IAFF <br />classification of Firefighter/Engineer Paramedic, and other COA classifications with <br />applicable COA classifications and equity adjustments are proposed to maintain those <br />alignments as included in Exhibit A-1 and Exhibit B. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />1.The City’s salary and wage plan for IAFF classifications, the classification <br />of Fire Fighter Trainee, and for COA classifications, will be amended as set forth in Exhibit <br />A-1, A-2, A-3, and Exhibit B.
