1/11/2010 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14992 <br />RESOLUTION AMENDING THE REDWOOD CITY BUDGET FOR <br />FISCAL YEAR 2009 -2010 BY APPROPRIATING $37,000 TO THE <br />"GOLDEN GUARDIAN EXERCISE" ACCOUNT AND AUTHORIZING <br />THE USE OF THE APPROPRIATED FUNDS FOR USE IN THE 2010 <br />GOLDEN GUARDIAN EXERCISE <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redwood City adopted Resolution No. <br />14955 approving its Fiscal Year 2009 -2010 budget; and <br />WHEREAS, the Golden Guardian Exercise is an annual state wide disaster drill <br />that tests a different aspect of emergency management each year, and the City of <br />Redwood City has participated in the Golden Guardian Exercise in prior drills involving <br />earthquake scenarios; and <br />WHEREAS, the next drill will involve a terrorism scenario at the Port of Redwood <br />City, and it will be the first opportunity to participate in a large scale exercise since <br />completion of the "Introduction to Emergency Management" class held in Redwood City; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, participation in the Golden Guardian Exercise will require the City to <br />initially fund $37,000 for overtime and backfill expenses, as well as consultant support <br />to develop the scenario; <br />WHEREAS, this initial expenditure will be reimbursed from the Federal <br />Emergency Management Agency through the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI); and <br />WHEREAS, San Francisco has been designated to serve as the Fiscal Agent for <br />the approval Authority, and to establish procedures and provide all financial services for <br />distribution of UASI Program grant funds within the Bay Area UASI Region; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to receive UASI grant distributions the City will be entering <br />into an Agreement between the City and County of San Francisco and the City of <br />Redwood City for the Distribution of FY 2008 UASI Regional Funds. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The Finance Director shall appropriate $37,000 in funding needed to <br />participate in the 2010 Golden Guardian Exercise into the "Golden Guardian Exercise" <br />(150- 62260.50) account. <br />ATTY /RESO/RES0.1967 14992 <br />122909 Muff # 304 <br />
