MINUTE ORDER
CITY COUNCIL MEETING

September 16, 1996
MO. 96-228

CITY CLERK DEPARTMENT
Redwood City

DATE: September 19, 1996

Attention: City Manager
City Attorney
Finance Director
Community Development Director

SUBJECT: FUNDING THE EIR ON LAUREL WAY (603)

Meeting of the Council of the City of Redwood City on September 16, 1996.

Present: Councilmembers Buchan,Claire, Howard, La Berge, Leipzig, Ruskin
and Mayor Harmett

Absent: None

The following motion was made, carried and entered on the Minutes:

M/S: LA BERGE/I-IOWARD TO DIRECT STAFF TO WORK WITH THE
APPLICANT AND OTHER PROPERTY OWNERS ON LAUREL WAY TO SET UP
A MECHANISM FOR FUNDING THE EIR

In answer to Councilman Ruskin's questions regarding legal obligations, City
Attorney Schricker advised that "there is no obligation that we would involve
ourselves in public funds. You want to investigate whether there is a
proportional formula that should be developed or there should be no
participation. You will know more when you get a report back and find out how
much is involved..., and what the scope of the proposed EIR would be. That is
one of the first things you would have to do is look at the scope."

MOTION CARRIED BY UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE.

Arlyn C. Jorgenson
City Clerk
