<br />08/23/2010 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2357 <br /> <br />REPEALING CURRENT CHAPTER 16 AND ADDING A NEW <br />CHAPTER 16 TO THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO THE liBRARY BOARD <br /> <br />THE COUNCil OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS <br /> <br />FOllOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Chapter 16, consisting of Ordinances Nos. 30, 902, and 1131, <br /> <br />specifically Sections 16.1 through 16.5 of the Redwood City Municipal Code, is <br /> <br />repealed in its entirety. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Chapter 16, Sections 16.1 through 16.9 are hereby added to the <br /> <br />Redwood City Municipal Code as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 16.1. LIBRARY ESTABLISHED: <br />There is and shall be a library and reading room in and for the City, which is <br />known and designated as the Redwood City Public Library. <br /> <br />Sec. 16.2. GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF LIBRARY BOARD: <br />The Board passionately supports the mission of the Library as the learning center <br />of the community and the place where people turn to for the discovery of ideas, <br />the joy of reading and the power of information. The Board is committed to: <br /> <br />A. Championing literacy for all, <br />B. Actively seeking out opportunities that support the Library, <br />C. Harnessing the power of the community through volunteers and <br />partnerships, <br />D. Acting as community advocates to ensure that Library services impact and <br />change lives, <br />E. Influencing the strategic direction of the Library, <br />F. Fostering a great Library of which Redwood City can be proud. <br /> <br />Sec. 16.3. APPOINTMENT, COMPOSITION, MEMBERSHIP, TERMS, <br />REMOVAL, COMPENSATION: <br />The terms of Section 18 of the City Charter regulate the matters set forth therein, <br />including composition, membership, terms, removal, and compensation of the <br />Library Board.
