<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />DES: al l0;2&168 <br /> <br />.,. <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br />---------- <br /> <br />N O. ,-) 2/"7 <br /> <br />Or<......, <br />. ;,} (; I E'./,'i) . <br />· t s (.'; 1 ~~.1':'1'- . <br /> <br />p\.f'wofo i... ~- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE OFFICERS AND MEN OJ:' <br />THE USS BENJAMIN S'rODDERT (DDG-22) FOR PAR'I1ICI- <br />PATION IN THE 1968 NAVY DAY OBSERVANCES AT THE <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Navy Day, Sunday, October 27, 1968, was 'observed <br /> <br />in the City of Redwood City by the appearance of the USS Benjamin <br /> <br />Stoddert (DDG-22) at the Port of Redwood City: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the USS Stoddert is a guided missile destroyer <br /> <br />proudly bearing the flag of the United States on the high seas <br /> <br />throughout the world in the ,defense of our nation and democratic <br /> <br />ideals~ and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to its duties the USS Stoddert has served <br /> <br />in the Gulf of 'Tonkin, in the Viet Nam campaign, and elsewhere <br /> <br />with the United States 7th Fleet: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, over 6~OOO visitors from the City of Redwood city <br /> <br />were welcomed aboard the USS Stoddert by its officers and men <br />during its stay at the Port of Redwood City for purposes of <br /> <br />becoming acquainted with the ship and personnel: and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the officers and men of the USS Stoddert participated <br /> <br />in local community activities during their stay, thereby strengthen- <br /> <br />ing th~ bond of appreciation and good will between the city and the <br /> <br />Navy: <br /> <br />NQW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />~E IT RESOLVE~ BY THE COUNCIL OF ~lHE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOldS: <br /> <br />That this Council does ~ereby commend the officers and men <br /> <br />of the USS Benjamin Stoddert (DDG-22) for,its participation in this <br /> <br />Ci ty' s observance of Navy Day for 1968, and he'reby expresses its <br /> <br />appreciation for the wholehearted and friendly support by said <br /> <br />officers and men in their participation in local com~urilty <br /> <br />activities. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Reso1utionpa.ssed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City <br />,~n October 28, 1968 <br /> <br />~~ <br />HELEN C.
